I am thinking here of information professionals who organise events for other library and information professionals. And I ask the question because time and again event organisers seem to overlook basic points about privacy.
For example, how many times have you received an email confirming that you have a place at a professional event where the event organiser failed to use BCC, thereby copying you in on all the other attendees email addresses.
And if the event organisers issue a delegate list, were you asked whether you were happy to appear on the list?
These are basic points. And what I am trying to say is that privacy should be ingrained for librarians. After all, its an important factor in our Ethical Principles & Code of Professional Practice.
